Bad Things Blog Tour

                                                        BAD THINGS

                            BY R.K. LILLEY

      BLOG TOUR REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY

4 STARS!

SYNOPSIS:

Danika hasn’t had an easy life. Being insanely attracted to bad boys has never helped make it easier.

One look at Tristan, and every brain cell she possessed went up in smoke. This man was trouble with a capital T. It was a given.
She knew better. Bad boys were bad. Especially for her. Considering her history, it was crazy to think otherwise. So why did crazy have to feel so damn fine?

For as long as she could remember, Danika had been focused on the future with single-minded purpose. Tristan came along and taught her everything there was to know about letting go, and living in the present. She fell, hard and deep. Of course, that only made her impact with the ground that much more devastating.

Bad Things is about Tristan and Danika, and their train wreck of a love story. This series can be read as a standalone, or with the Up in the Air series.

                             MY REVIEW:

Hot.Hot.Hot....and more super steamy sexy, make you reach for your significant other or vibrator hot!

Danika and Tristan have a very intense connection right from the start when they met. Danika's tell it like it is personality is refreshing for Tristan who doesn't like to guess about what a girl is thinking. Danika is funny, smart, and beautiful, but Tristan doesn't do relationships only hookups and Danika is a relationship type if girl.

Danika and Tristan decide to just be friends but with the intense attraction there, they didn't stay just friends for long. Someone always ends up wanting more and hurt feelings come about. In ways, they are perfect for each other but in others it's clear that they are completely destructive. Danika infuriated me with how easily she forgave Tristan for his asshole/man-whore words and actions and Tristan pissed me off for acting like it was no big deal. Neither one of them have had good examples of how a strong solid relationship should be. Danika is what Tristan needs...but is that enough?

This book doesn't end in a cliffhanger but from reading bits of their relationship in the other books I know this is just the beginning of the bad things to come for them. If Tristan can control his temper and unfounded jealousy and if Danika can trust him they might just have a chance in the end. I look forward to reading book 2 in their relationship series, Rock Bottom.

                           MY REVIEW:

I have to start off by saying that this book really got to me. Emotionally and physically. It made me cry so many times I lost count. My stomach was in knots for a big part of the book. I was in the car driving with my family for our vacation to Orlando. Supposed to be a happy and exciting time and here I was sitting in the front passenger seat crying my eyes out. My boyfriend and kids think I'm nuts, but they weren't reading what I was reading. This book grabs you by your collar from the beginning and it doesn't let go until the end.

At the beginning of the book we meet Candace and her very best friend, Jase. Jase is the only person Candace trusts. When Candace is attacked the person she calls is Jase and only he knows what happened to her. Jase is the ultimate best guy friend. He is fun, sweet, trustworthy, and he also happens to be gay, which equals safe in her mind. Candace clings to Jase and leans on him for comfort and support when she starts to have night terrors and PTSD symptoms.

Candace is studying dance (ballet) at the University, and she is one of the best in her class. Her parents (complete douchenozzles!) don't think that dance is a respectable profession or the right career choice for her. Sadly, they never listen to her or support her to the detriment of their relationship. They feel she is an embarrassment the family name.

When Candace meets Ryan, because she was attacked, she doesn't trust him. She is afraid he will hurt her and so she tries to stay away from him. When they keep seeing each other, they chat a little more each time until Candace seems more comfortable around him. When Ryan first meets Candace he feels drawn to her and he stares...a lot! *Swoon* He knows she is afraid of him but he isn't sure why.

Ryan was so sweet with Candace. He was okay moving forward with their relationship at Candace's slow pace. Patient, sweet, successful, and hunky, what else could you want in a man? Ryan knows how Candace's relationship with Jase is and even though Jase is gay he isn't comfortable with how close they are. Ryan wants Candace to lean on him and come to him when she needs comforting but the only person that's ever been there for Candace is Jase and old habits die hard.

"He's all I've ever had."  Taking my hand in his, he places it

against his chest when he tells me, "You have me now too." "

I loved this book! It's funny at times but mostly it will rip your heart out and squeeze it as you feel Candace's pain. You hope so much that she will get the help she needs to overcome her fears and that justice will eventually be served. I loved the supporting characters as well. Jase, Mark, and of course Ryan. I love that Ryan's mother was so wonderful and was the mother figure that Candace always wanted and needed. As sad as this book is, it gives hope. Hope that you can overcome anything. It just takes time, love and support from friends and patience. I definitely recommend reading this book.

*NOTE*-

If you are suffering from PTSD for any reason, You've been attacked, beaten, raped, etc... there is help. Don't keep it to yourself. Let someone you trust know.

                             ALTERNATE POV
( Jase) Candace in the shower

When I unlock the door to my apartment, she doesn’t even speak as she heads straight to my bathroom and closes the door behind her. It feels like there are bricks in the pit of my stomach, and the past few hours are a complete haze. I hear the water to the shower turn on as I sit down on the couch. I wish I knew what to say, what to do, but I feel so helpless.
Laying my head back, I hear her start to cry. Dropping my head in my hands, I can’t stop my own tears from falling. Fuck.When her cries turn into screaming sobs, I bolt off the couch and run into the bathroom.
I see her through the steamed glass, on her knees, at the bottom of the shower. I feel like all the air is sucked out of my lungs. Seeing her like this is almost unbearable, so I quickly kick off my shoes and socks, open the shower door, and wrap my arms around her from behind as she breaks. I don’t know what else to do, so I just cover her bruised and cut body with mine.
I have no clue what the hell really happened, and knowing Candace, she will never say. He beat the shit out of her, that much is evident. Rage roils in my gut when I think about what he did to her. I know I have to keep my shit together though, ‘cause she’s going to need me.
Listening to her wails is excruciating. I love this girl more than anything and to see her in this much pain kills me. I’m so scared for her; I’m afraid of what this has done to her. I know there is nothing I could possibly say, so I just hold onto her as she falls apart in my arms.

Watch Over Me

                                                    Watch Over Me

                            By Tara Sivec

                      Review and Giveaway

                                  4 Stars!!!

Synopsis:

Addison Snow is your typical teenager. She has a family that loves her, friends that make her laugh, and
she's wrapped up in the excitement of graduating high school and going off to college to pursue her dream of
becoming an author. When her mother, who also happens to be Addison's best friend, dies unexpectedly,
her world comes to a crashing halt.
Death changes everyone...
To make the pain go away, Addison and her father travel down separate, dark paths. She chooses to end
her grief forever, while he drowns his sorrows in the bottom of a bottle. How do you learn to live again when
the most important person in your life is gone?
Addison struggles to pick up the pieces of her life. Instead of getting back to being the carefree teenager
she once was, she's stuck handling all of the responsibilities that should have been her father's. She has no
time to grieve, no time for emotions, and no time for happiness...until Zander Reinhardt walks in. All it takes
is one little handwritten note on a napkin to kickstart her back to life and help her realize that maybe there's
more to that life than pain.
But can it really be that simple? Can she really trust this man who makes her feel alive again for the first
time in a year?
Addison and Zander both have secrets they aren't ready to share. When the truth finally comes out, is it

enough to tear them apart or has something bigger than themselves always been watching over them, pushing them together, making sure they both get their happily ever after?

Review:

I loved this book so much. It read so much like a personal diary. It really felt like Tara, the author, has lived and breathed this story.

Addison has had to grow up and take the role of a parent since her mother has passed away and her father has decided to drown his sorrows in the bottom of a bottle. She has had her own struggles unbeknownst to her father who is in and out of rehab trying to get his life back together and not succeeding.

Addison meets Zander....sigh....Zander is everything Addison needs and doesn't realize. He says everything right and was patient and kind with her. He leaves her sweet notes written on napkins that make her day brighter each day. Addison's therapist reminds her of her mother and that both soothes and frustrates her.

I don't want to give anything away...so just read this...you won't be sorry. It's sweet, sad, and shows the power of healing.

His Wicked Games

                         **** 4 Stars! ****

Release Date: 6/11/13

Synopsis:

Some men play to win...

Lily would do anything to save the Frazer Center for the Arts—even take on the infamous billionaire Calder Cunningham.

The Cunninghams have long held a reputation for being eccentric—and secretive. When Lily breaks onto their estate, she only wants to find and reason with Calder. The Cunningham family was the Frazer Center’s largest benefactor for years—until Calder took over the family funds and broke the pledge contract without warning. Now the Center is on the brink of closing, and she’s desperate to save the institution her father founded.

But Calder turns out to be more than she bargained for. He’s willing to consider her pleas—but for a price. Lily must indulge his whims, play along with his games—all while confined to his mysterious mansion—or she’ll never get the funds to save the Center. She must decide: play the mouse to his cat, or lose the organization she and her father spent their blood, sweat, and tears to build.

My Review:

"I've never been this reckless before, but I think it agrees with me. I know I'm being insane, but I don't care. I've come to save the Center, and there's no turning back now. Calder Cunningham won't even know what hit him."

Lily Frazer and her father own a small non-profit called The Frazer Center for the Arts. They rely on donations to run their operations, which gives a place for disadvantaged youth to spend time after school doing various activities until their parents pick them up.

The Frazer's have always relied on a substantial donation from the Cunningham family. However, now that Wentworth Cunningham  has died, all business has fallen into the hands of his son, Calder.

Calder is a rich playboy who is used to spending his time traveling  and living a carefree life. You can find him on the arm of the most beautiful women in the world at any time. Since his father has passed away, he is forced to come home and take responsibility for his affairs.

Lily receives a letter from Calder letting her know that his family will not be able to keep their contract in the future and that it would be in her best interest to not waste her time pursuing the funds any longer. Lily is not okay with that at all. The Frazer Center desperately needs that money. So she takes it upon herself to go have a chat with the man himself. When she arrives at the mansion no one will answer her at the intercom, no one will open the gates, and there are no security guards either. She thinks up quite interesting ways to get someones attention but nothing works. At her wits end, she decides to crawl through the gate!

Calder catches Lily and the game of cat and mouse begins. You can feel the attraction right from the start. It's intense and hot and you may need your boyfriend or B.O.B. nearby after a few of the interactions. Ember Casey knows how to turn it up, let me tell you.

Despite how angry Lily is and how much she tells herself she hates Calder, she can't ignore how drawn she is to him. She can't ignore how he makes her feel.

"There comes a point sometimes in arguments when you know you've lost. When your pride and your anger have backed you into a corner and a sensible person would throw up their hands and walk away. I'd like to think that I'm normally a sensible person, but the past few days have left me with a confusing jumble of emotions."

Lily finds herself stuck at the mansion due to a rain storm that has flooded all the roads. All this leads to is more time alone with Calder. More time to convince herself that she doesn't like him. All those thoughts flee from her mind once Calder touches her. She can't deny that she see's the goodness in him and tries to convince herself that they are just having a bit of weekend fun.

When the truth comes out about why Calder isn't willing to give the money to Lily for the Center all hell breaks loose.

I loved this book so much. The attraction, the exhibitionism, the games, and yummy Calder. There isn't a cliffhanger but there is a sequel coming out to continue Lily and Calder's story called Truth or Dare.

Coming this Summer 2013.

My Review:

Jet is the second book in the Marked Men series by Jay Crownover. While you don't need to read the first book, Rule, to understand the second, Jet, it does have some characters from the first book so it's nice to follow the continuation of their relationship as well.

Jet is a hardcore, intense, angry, heavy metal singer. He has a lot to be angry about. He left home at fifteen because he could no longer stand his family life and I have to say I don't blame him. Jet loves his mother, loves her so much that he is willing to put his life on hold, and get beat up, go to jail, etc...for her safety. He has had it now though. He is tired of sitting by and watching his mother continuously coddle his drunk, deadbeat, cheating, drunkard, father.  Jet is also passionate, loving, and can be super sweet and charming. Covered in head to toe in tats and piercings, there is no shortage of women revolving through his door. But there is only one woman who has really captured Jet's attention, but is it a lost cause?

Ayden is a girl with a shady past. She left Kentucky to get away from her troublemaker brother and his lack of regard for the laws. She felt she had to keep him out of trouble so she did horrible things to keep him safe. Thankfully, she has left that life behind and made a new life for herself in Colorado. She is a Bio Chem Major and has a fantastic group of friends.

Ayden has certain goals set for her future and she is not willing to budge on them. She refuses to have to go back to her old life. She is in a relationship with, as she says is, the "perfect" guy. All that really equals is boring boring, sweater vest, boring. When she hugs and kisses him the spark is exactly like kissing a wall. Flat. However, when Ayden is simply around Jet, you can practically see the sparks flying through the air.

Ayden and Jet have different goals for their life but cannot deny the attraction towards each other no matter how much they fight it. So they decide to jump in to a friends with benefits type of relationship. And whoa baby is it hot! Jet would sing to Ayden in bed in his non screamer voice while playing his guitar. *Swoon*

Jet was forth coming about his families past with Ayden, but Ayden was very secretive about hers. When her past starts to catch up with her she divulges a small bit about her old life but trying to keep Jet safe, she takes to cowards way out and breaks things off when they get intense.

Will Ayden's past overcome her? What will happen with Ayden and Jet in the end? Read Jet and find out!

16 Marsden Place

                                     Blog Tour Review and Excerpt

                                                           16 Marsden Place

                                By Rachel Brimble

4 Champagne Licked Stars! ****

Synopsis:

There isn't a situation that can't be fixed by a coat of chocolate body paint or a liberal smear of Champagne Lick, right? Wrong!

Ever since her father was murdered by a gang of youths, Sienna Lloyd has named herself Potterford’s protector—her sexy lingerie shop is a place where the town’s women can visit and feel safe. But when that shop is in danger of closing, Sienna needs a solution that will keep her in Potterford, where she can always look out for her mother, friends, and clients.

The answer? Move the shop to her home at 16 Marsden Place. The problem? Her new neighbor, the delicious but seriously uptight Jack Beaton. Oh, and his four-year-old twin girls.
Jack has just moved to the tiny town of Potterford in a bid to start over. To build a new life that keeps his children safe from their violent and sex-crazed mother. So when he discovers his neighbor intends to open a sex shop right next door, Jack will do anything to ensure it doesn’t happen…including fighting every ounce of his attraction to the shop’s owner and his innate need to trust again.

My Review:

Whoa baby, is the UST in this book H-O-T!!! You can feel the intense connection between Sienna and Jack right from their first meeting.

Sienna is a 28 year old owner of a sex shop, mostly geared toward women so they can keep their relationships in the bedroom fun.
Ever since her father passed away, Sienna has been afraid to let anyone into her heart. Her relationship with her father was so strong that she cannot even fathom going through that heartbreak again.

Jack...oh man...hot sexy man that is! Sienna's new neighbor Jack is looking for a fresh start with his 4 year old twin girls. Having dealt with his ex-wife and her alcoholism among other things has taken it''s toll on Jack. He wants to raise his girls in a nice quiet town in the country away from all the sadness and chaos they left behind.

Jack and Sienna are attracted to each other right away. However, once Jack finds out that Sienna owns a sex shop and has no choice but to move it into her house, he freaks out a little. He believe's Sienna's shop represents everything he is trying to get his girls away from and he is determined to fight her every step of the way. What he doesn't count on is falling in love with her.

Jack knows his ex-wife, Martina, has been sober for a year now. He also knows that she will want to contact him and fight for custody of their girls. He doesn't trust Martina and will do anything in his willpower to keep that from happening.

When Jack and Martina meet, she seems like the woman he met a long time ago before things got crazy, but can he trust what she says? And what about his connection with Sienna? Is he willing to give that up for a chance to have his family back?

Read 16 Marsden Place and find out!

*Note*- I would love to see a second book about Sienna's best friend Kelsey and Mike!

About the Author

I live with my fantastic husband, our two young daughters and my beloved black Labrador, Max in a small market town near the famous Georgian City of Bath.  Having always ‘played’ with writing, I didn’t seriously sit down and write toward publication until I became pregnant with my second daughter – then I told myself to get my butt in the chair and get on with it before she grows up and I’m forced to get a real job!
Lots of short stories followed as did lots of rejections!  I took a few distance learning courses, joined some online writers groups and basically, learned my craft.  Finally deciding short stories weren’t working for me (they are an art form in themselves!), in 2006 I decided to embark on my first novel and voila Searching For Sophie was born!  Since then, my other books have followed each year.
And when I’m not writing? You’ll find me with my head in a book or walking the beautiful English countryside with my family.  And in the evening?  Well, a well-deserved glass of wine is never, ever refused.
